Jeffery "Amtrack Jeff" Herman Childs, 79, of Momence, Ill., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025.His life began Sept. 19, 1945, in Michigan City, Ind., the youngest of three children born to Theron and Ruth Childs.Amtrack Jeff loved trains. He would visit his brother five times a year. Jeff would sit on his brother's property, 180 feet from a railroad and watch every last passenger and cargo car go by late into the evening.Jeffery will be greatly missed by family and friends. He leaves one brother, Theron Childs III of Pullman; four nieces: Nicole (Chad) Stewart of Bridgman, Michelle Tribbet of San Antonio, Sara (Jason) Coleman of Baroda, Carissa Gray-Sobol of Fennville; one nephew, Joseph Gray of Fennville and one cousin, Roger Bitner.He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Ann Gray of Fennville.Family and friends will gather Tuesday, Feb. 11, noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Pobocik Chapel, 106 Ash St. East, Three Oaks.
